“There’s a lot of people who really care about the arts in Omaha and fashion in particular, there’s a lot of designers here and a lot of really good designers,” said Hillabrand. “…and so I think Omaha, the arts crowd that cares about it and the designers, really matched up, and it’s just become a fabulous thing.”

And according to Hillabrand, it is and will continue to be a distinctly Midwest thing. “It’s a confidence that we have here in the Midwest, and it’s something that grown over years,prom dress 2011, and I think it’s something that’s going to flourish and continue to get better and better.”

Omaha Fashion Week kicked off Monday night at Nomad Lounge in the Old Market and will run through Saturday. Megan Hunt and her Princess Lasertron line will take the runway Thursday night.

TARGET TO SELL LIMITED-EDITION MISSONI CLOTHING, HOMEWARES

Big news for friends of fashion.

Target will sell a limited-edition clothing and home collection by knitwear genius Missoni from Sept. 13 to Oct 22.

Missoni for Target is to include knit dresses and sweaters for women. It’s also to include swimwear, shoes, scarves and intimates for women, in addition to cosmetic cases and hair accessories.

Most pieces are in the $40 range.

The collection also includes pieces for men and girls.

Expect to see a lot of Missoni’s iconic zig-zags – including a zig-zag ceramic vase ($39.99) and a 3-speed women’s bicycle ($399.99).

TORONTO – Bay’s Moon line marks milestone,wedding dresses cheap, expands into menswear

Moon is marking its first anniversary and expanding the brand’s offerings in the process.

Menswear will now be in the mix within the affordable apparel line with the introduction of its autumn-winter 2011 collection.

The debut pieces featured last year focused on women,black bridesmaid dresses, with streamlined separates designed to be versatile for everyday wear as well as building blocks in the modern wardrobe.

The menswear line includes T-shirts, sport coats, dress pants and merino wool knitwear, along with an array of dress shirts in solids, stripes and gingham patterns. Outerwear pieces include trenches, blazers and puffy bomber jackets. Items in the line range from $20 to $175.The Moon moniker, which is carried at the Bay, has ties to Canadian fashion heavyweight Alfred Sung. Moon was the name of the Toronto boutique opened in the ’70s by the designer, and is also part of Sung’s name.

The longtime designer is a partner with the Mimran Group,celebrity dresses 2011, which teamed up with the Bay on Moon. Siblings Tamara and Jordin Mimran work with father Saul on the line,wedding dresses uk, in addition to design direction from Sung.

As well as practical help with issues like housing and employment,maternity wedding dresses, she helped them address the psychological issues that had led them into drug addiction.

”It’s quite a jump from what I was doing then to what I’m doing now,” admits Chloe. “I’ve gone from gritty reality to fairytale fantasy. But a similar thread runs through; both are about helping people to achieve their life-goals.”

Like many a bridal boutique owner, organising her own wedding led her down the aisle to self-employment. But she had already taken a professional interest in the pressures young women feel when they are planning their nuptuals.

In her final year at Sheffield Hallam University, she studied the subject for her dissertation. And she discovered the stress of planning a wedding can have a detrimental effect on women’s physical health and mental wellbeing.

And Smith has her work cut out for her with New York’s recent decision to legalize gay marriage, her business is quickly expanding. She is the owner of 14 Stories, a wedding planning business named after the 14 plaintiffs in the landmark Massachusetts gay marriage case.

BERNADETTE COVENEY SMITH: Thanks, Tony. Great to be here.
